the lonesomes (black and blue release tour)

  • elsewhere 23 Cavill Avenue Surfers Paradise, QLD, 4217 Australia (map)

The Lonesomes are an Australian post-punk band known for their raw songwriting and ferocious live shows.

Their latest single BUZZ is their most personal yet—written in the wake of frontman Matt Callan’s childhood best friend’s passing. The track was born from a compulsion to write, to make sense of sudden loss. With Callan’s more restrained vocal delivery compared to their previous releases, BUZZ captures the quiet disorientation that follows when someone close disappears, trying to make sense of the senseless.

Their 2024 release Locket took their sound in a new direction, drawing on darker electronic textures and rhythms shaped by drum and bass and hip hop. Locket has received international acclaim, further cementing The Lonesomes as an exciting force in the post-punk scene.

Their 2021 track Dog Days was ranked in Blank Magazine’s '21 Best Songs of 2021,' a testament to the band’s continued growth and impact. While their sound continues to evolve, The Lonesomes remain grounded in raw feeling—each track an attempt to say something honest.

Known for their ferocious and unpredictable live performances, the band has shared stages with The Chats, Bad Dreems, Ruby Fields, Mini Skirt, Brant Bjork and Dune Rats, steadily carving out a place as one of Australia’s most compelling new acts.
